TORONTO HOUSING SOCIETY

Dignified, affordable rental housing for all.

TOHS is a grassroots, volunteer-led team of two: Deneille Macas and Cody Heimpel. We launch and manage projects to give Torontonian’s access to better housing options, while educating and unifying Toronto’s rental community.

Projects & Impact

Toronto Home Zone

Raising rental living standards and dropping prices since 2015.

Our moderated Facebook community is not just a space for listing rentals. Our Admin team and members are passionate about educating on rental rights and responsibilities. We enforce practices not found on other platforms (including a rental pricing maximum) to prioritize affordability, quality living spaces, and member safety.

THZ Report + The Chronicle

Information is power.

We (painstakingly) collect data on all rentals posted to THZ to power tools for renters and landlords. While the we drum up support to continue creating THZ Reports, the Home Zone Rental Pages here on TOHS (formerly known as the Chronicle), allows THZ members to quickly access recent rental posts that meet their needs and set budgets/unit pricing based on ultra-recent listing prices.

Affiliate Statement: Our Commitment to Transparency and Community Support

Providing dignified rental living in our city is a labour of love for us. It's work we're passionate about, and while we don't get paid for it, we believe it's essential for a thriving city. To keep these vital resources accessible and cover our operational costs, we form thoughtfully chosen paid partnerships with companies who genuinely align with our core values.

We want to be crystal clear about who we're working with. As of December 1, 2025 we have ended our partnership with Duuo by the Co-Operators as we pivot to a more sustainable model for TOHS.

By choosing to use the services of future partners, you're not only benefiting from trusted providers, but you're also directly contributing to the high standards of our initiatives, all while ensuring they remain completely free for both renters and landlords.

The trust of our community is paramount. Regardless of any business relationship, we meticulously vet every organization featured on our site. Our promise to you is that we only highlight partners who bring safety, affordability, and/or educational value to renters and landlords. We invite you to explore their services, knowing that your engagement helps us continue our mission.
