The Chronicle is a volunteer-led initiative designed to make the Toronto rental market more transparent. Our team works tirelessly to vet member’s profiles, delete rentals (and ban the poster) that do not abide by Ontario rental and human rights laws, and filter out suspicious activity. We are not a broker or legal representative.

Volunteer Limits: Our moderation is performed by volunteers. We cannot physically inspect properties or verify the legal identity of every poster.

Your Due Diligence: The presence of a listing on this site does not constitute an endorsement. It is your responsibility to verify the legitimacy of a landlord, the condition of a unit, and the terms of any lease before exchanging funds.

Zero-Deposit Rule: We strongly advise never sending a deposit or sharing sensitive personal data (like a SIN) before you have viewed the unit in person and signed a valid Ontario Standard Lease or Roommate Agreement.

Liability: Toronto Home Zone and its volunteers are not liable for any disputes, financial losses, or rental scams that may occur via external links. Proceed at your own risk and exercise the same caution you would on any other public marketplace.

The Chronicle is a real-time feed of the Toronto Home Zone community. New Toronto rental listings appear here the moment they are reviewed and approved by our moderators. While we provide the most direct access to affordable Toronto housing and shared accommodations, please note that links may occasionally expire. Because each post is an external Facebook link, we cannot track when a user manually deletes their post or marks a room as rented.

Please report fraudulent activity , unsafe behaviour and/or undignified housing directly to group Admin on Facebook. Make sure to include receipts (screenshots, recordings).

We’ve made various iterations of this tool since 2021, originally called the Chronicle, to help manage the frustrations that come with trying to find a rental through Facebook. We built it to simplify the search for affordable housing in Toronto by aggregating the most recent, moderator-approved posts from our private group.
